Client Delivery Director
We are looking for an experienced, proactive and credible leader to join our growing team in the Civil Society and Communities practice at PPL as a Client Delivery Director.
1. Role Purpose
To work proactively with the Director of Civil Society and Communities, our senior advisors, wider staff, clients and partners to develop and deliver our offer to Civil Society and Communities, including the development and delivery of our innovation offer.
This includes:
Leading on key accounts and portfolios of civil society and innovation projects, providing delivery leadership, subject matter expertise, accountability, quality assurance and financial and performance standards.
Developing existing and new client relationships
Generating follow-on work through delivery excellence and development of trusted relationships
Team development and capacity building to meet the needs of PPLs clients
Contributing to overall business strategy and internal transformation and quality improvement
Supporting wider thought leadership at a national, regional and local level, including contributing to development and delivery of the practice’s comms and marketing strategy
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Programme and Project Leadership, Management and Delivery
Acting as senior delivery lead / programme manager / project director for complex programmes in the civil society and communities practice
Providing hands-on leadership through programme scoping, design, mobilisation, delivery and benefits realisation / evaluation
Managing senior clients, stakeholders and governance
Owning delivery performance across scope, quality, risk, timelines and budgets
Resolving complex delivery challenges and delivery risks
Ensuring benefits realisation and outcome measurement are embedded into programme delivery
Sharing learning and best practice
Managing, coaching and mentoring programme and project teams
This role is expected to remain operationally close to delivery, maintaining direct involvement in priority programmes.
B. Delivery Standards, Quality and Assurance
Applying PPL’s delivery standards, methodologies and quality frameworks in line with ISO standards.
Embedding consistent governance, reporting and assurance processes across all areas of assigned responsibility
Providing senior-level assurance on major programmes
Driving continuous improvement in delivery practice and capability
Acting as a subject matter expert for complex programme and project delivery
C. Portfolio/Account Oversight and Operational Leadership
Maintaining oversight of delivery health across priority programmes
Supporting resource planning and capacity management across delivery teams
Working with and to the Senior Leadership Team to manage delivery risk, sequencing and workload
Supporting early-stage mobilisation of new work across the practice to ensure delivery readiness
Escalating and resolving systemic delivery issues
D. Client Account Ownership and Commercial Contribution
Leveraging existing relationships, expertise and knowledge to actively contribute to the commercial success of the Civil Society and Communities Practice
Building long-term trusted relationships through delivery excellence
Identifying and converting follow-on opportunities arising from existing programmes
Supporting account growth targets and contribution to overall organisational performance
Working with the Director of Civil Society and Communities to ensure new work is deliverable and commercially sustainable
E. Proposition Development and Market Contribution
Contributing to proposition development grounded in delivery experience
Supporting the creation of case studies, thought leadership and delivery insights
Contributing to sales and marketing activity related to delivery-led work
Supporting bids and proposals in areas of expertise
Helping shape PPL’s reputation for delivery excellence in complex change
G. Resource and Team Leadership
Managing assigned delivery resources and teams
Providing leadership, coaching and development
Supporting recruitment and onboarding of delivery capability
Embedding a strong performance, accountability and learning culture
Ensuring compliance with PPL policies, processes and values
This role operates within PPL’s matrix delivery model, combining direct line management with cross-programme leadership.
